I hope you, like me, are feeling the love from Tigi for coming out to shoot this report on the kind of days you don’t see another person out there.  The dogs were loving it though and so was I, at least for most of the first day.  Nice too that our timing seemed good in that the worst of the rain seemed to come before and after.   And it wasn’t so cold.  I even messaged the crew the first morning about an impending sesh.  Though I certainly don’t blame them for taking a pass (or of course, for having to work).         _________\_

Seems like the outer bar was a little abrupt at this size and I was late on just about everything.  Yeah, they just kind of stood up and threw before I could get another turn or go for the money shot.  I was really kicking myself on this one though.

    Ahhhhh and late again.

So maybe some of you are thinking “wow, if that was the good jetty, what does bad jetty look like?”.  Well, to my eye, something along the lines of the very next day.  These shots also come to us from Tigi and I promise you all the photos are from the same spot, same sail, same time of afternoon and with only an hour difference on the tide.  Something changed though.

And here’s the best hit of the day.  Just wish it had been the other way around.  Still, I got pretty good spray points, yes?

Well, here’s hope you enjoyed this little taste of Bandon in the winter.  It certainly has its moments and in spite of a couple web cams (Bandon TV and the jetty cam,) as well as the rather impressive array of forecasting models available to us, it’s tough to know quite what we are in for out there.  And remember to watch your speed on the access out to Bullard Beach as one of the bros got a stiff one from a ranger out there a little while back.  They like to see the dogs on leash when you are up near the parking lot too.   But they’ve been very cool about letting us run them off lead on the beach.
